Last month I had the great joy of speaking to our St. Gianna Mom’s Group at their monthly meeting. It’s always a lot of fun to be with this group, which has long been a place where young mothers can get together and take a break from the hectic-ness of parenting young children so that they can share fellowship and strengthen one another in faith.
Our topic for the meeting was the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, particularly in light of the Eucharistic Revival that is aimed at increasing our understanding that the Eucharist really is the Body and Blood of Christ. Some of the moms shared some great resources that they found helpful, and I thought they were worth sharing with the parish as a whole. So, with great thanks to the ladies of St. Gianna’s, here are some of those resources:
Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist by Brant Pitre, which one of the moms describes as a deep dive into the topic, and mind-blowing!
How the Eucharist Changed My Life by Fr. Mike Schmitz, a ten-minute video at https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_yKi2OJ7oqE
Presence, a series of videos offered by FORMED. (The FORMED app is required to access these.) One of our moms found this series to be transformative: https://watch.formed.org/presence
Another mom recommended the St. Paul Center (stpaulcenter.com) as a source for a number of wonderful resources to explore.
You’ll hear much more about the Eucharistic Revival when our parish’s yearlong observance begins in June, but it’s not too early to begin preparing. Thanks to the women of St. Gianna’s for these great suggestions!
