Fr. Steve’s Column 3-24-24

Today we begin Holy Week.  As we come to the end of our 40 days of Lent, we begin our final preparations for our Easter celebration of the Lord’s Resurrection.  Hopefully your works of prayer, fasting and almsgiving have been fruitful over these last several weeks, but even if Lent has kind of slipped away from you this year, we’re still offering plenty of ways to make this Holy Week count:

There are plenty of opportunities for confession this week, especially if you haven’t yet received the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Lent:

· Tuesday March 26th:  7pm-8pm

· Wednesday March 27th:  6pm-8pm

· Thursday March 28th:  9am-10am

Holy Thursday (March 28th)

The Triduum begins with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Thursday evening, because of which there is no morning Mass during these three days:

· 8:30am Morning Prayer

· 7pm:  Mass of the Lord’s Supper

· Prayer with the Blessed Sacrament will be offered in the Holy Cross Chapel after Mass

· 10pm Night Prayer in the Holy Cross Chapel

Good Friday (March 29th)

Good Friday is the one day of the year when Mass is not celebrated

· 8:30am Morning Prayer

· 3pm Celebration of the Lord’s Passion (with veneration of the Cross)

· 7pm Stations of the Cross

Holy Saturday (March 30th)

This year we will have several parishioners being baptized at the Easter Vigil, which will make for a beautiful liturgy.  If you’ve ever thought about attending the Easter Vigil, this is the year.  Not only are there several baptisms, but the parking will also be much easier than on Easter Sunday, especially given the constraints associated with construction!

· 8:30am Morning Prayer

· 1pm Food Blessing

· 9pm Easter Vigil, with a reception to follow

Easter Sunday (March 31st)

On Easter Sunday, we’ll observe our normal Sunday Mass schedule, but because of capacity constraints associated with construction, we will have overflow Masses in the new gym for the 8:45am and 10:30am Masses.  Please be prepared to be diverted to the gym if you arrive after the church is full!  Also be aware that parking will be tight, given the spaces we’ve lost to construction.  Thankfully our neighbors have allowed us to use their parking lots for Easter Masses, but plan on arriving a little early.

Know of my prayers for all of you during this Holy Week!
