This week we’ll continue reporting out on your responses to the Parish Survey from this January. This feedback is invaluable to us as we begin working on our next 5-year strategic plan.
Section 2: Faith Formation
This section of the survey dealt with our faith formation offerings, such as Bible studies, book discussions, etc. There was only one quantitative question in this section (on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best):
I am generally aware of the faith formation activities that are offered at Christ the King. 4.26
In reading your free-form responses, it was inspiring to hear the spiritual fruits that many of you reported from your participation in our various faith formation offerings. In terms of takeaways from this section, one area we’re focused on is the reasons why folks indicated they do not participate. (We’re just listing comments that were offered by 5 or more people.)
· 24 people indicated that a lack of time was the main obstacle to participating in faith formation activities
· 6 people indicated that they were not interested in the activities we offer
· 5 people indicated that our faith formation offerings didn’t apply to them.
When asked what additional faith formation offerings we should consider:
· 12 people said that we offered enough
· 7 people suggested a retreat program
· 7 people suggested ministry for married couples
· 5 people suggested Bible studies
· 5 people suggested various devotions
Good news here; we just initiated a marriage enrichment ministry, and we’re already actively looking into parish retreat programs! Stay tuned for more bulletin columns on the remaining sections of the parish survey.
