Fr. Steve’s Column 5-21-23

You’ve all heard that Fr. Geoff and our seminarian Tyler will both be moving on this summer, but we also have some other personnel changes going on.

Our Youth Minister, Abigail Ulbrich, is stepping down from her position as Youth Director at the end of July after 10 years.  (She’ll continue to stay on in a part-time role assisting with the Auction and the Fish Fry, where her experience will be invaluable.)  We have been blessed to have her these past 10 years, during which our Youth Ministry has experienced an incredible period of stability.  She inherited this program in a time of real crisis, and she has done tremendous work in building up a program for our middle school and high school students.  She’s helped them grow in their faith, cultivated their leadership ability, and fostered a great sense of Christian community.  We are currently looking for a new Youth Minister, and Abigail is leaving them a program that is in great shape.

Our Business Manager, Tom Haeussler, is also leaving, as his family moves to Grand Rapids.  I’m very pleased to announce that our Bookkeeper, Jennifer Snyder, has taken over as our new Business Manager.  Jennifer is a longtime parishioner and has worked as our Bookkeeper since 2019.  She has added a great deal of professionalism and skill to our business operations, and I’m so glad that she’s taking on this new role.  Jennifer will have primary responsibility for finances, facilities and human resources.

Please pray for all of these folks during this time of transition, and please also pray for our search for a new Youth Minister.
