The beginning of the new school year is upon us!  While summer always seems to go by quickly, it’s always exciting to approach the new year and welcome back our students.  We are blessed in many ways:  a very healthy enrollment, a dedicated faculty and staff and great facilities.  Most of all, we have a shared mission to form our students in the faith, helping them to not only learn about Christ but to form a relationship with Him that will be their foundation for the rest of their lives.  This is truly a mission worth pouring our heart and soul into when you consider that the goal of this mission is nothing less than our children’s salvation.

This is where all of you come in!  After all, as you’ve heard me say many times over the years, the school is the largest ministry of the parish.  In addition to the fact that the parish subsidizes the school with a portion of our Sunday collections, I hope that all of you pray often for our school:  for our students, teachers, staff and families, that their collective work may bear fruit in forming our kids into young men and women who are deeply in love with the Lord and willing to commit their lives to Him.

And so I’ll begin the school year with a few words of encouragement:

· Students, be sure and thank God every day for your Catholic education, and make the most of it by   putting forth your very best effort every day.

· Parents, thank you for entrusting Christ the King to partner with you as educators in the faith.  A Catholic education only takes root when it works in tandem with the faith formation that takes place at home, so please know of our gratitude for your dedication.

· Faculty and staff, praise God for your vocation to Catholic education!  I know you’ve made sacrifices in order to work at a Catholic school, so please never doubt that your work makes a real difference…even on the days when you’re not so sure!

· New students, faculty and staff, welcome to Christ the King!  We’re always grateful for the new faces that enrich our school community.

· Parishioners, please pray for Christ the King School regularly, and we will always welcome parishioners to volunteer in a variety of capacities.  Just contact me if you’d like to know more.

And most of all, we give thanks to God, to whose glory all of this work is directed.  How blessed we are to be able to tell the world that we all belong to Christ the King!
