With so much going on in the parish these days, it seems like a good time to give a quick recap!
· This weekend we have two events I look forward to a great deal every year. Kingsfest is on Saturday evening (8/24), and the Parish Picnic is on Sunday afternoon. Hopefully you purchased your tickets in advance, but there are tickets available at the door in case you forgot. These events are always a great way to build community within the parish, so I’m extremely grateful to all the parishioners who have volunteered their time to put these events together.
· The first day of school was this past week. Please continue to pray for our students, as well as for our faculty and staff who work so hard in this ministry of Christian formation. I’m so proud of the good work that they do every day.
· Construction continues to make progress, and we still expect to be able to use the new vestibule in the first week of October. I’m hoping to get the vestibule bathrooms back a little before then…it all depends on how quickly we can retile that part of the vestibule.
· On August 31st, four Holy Cross seminarians and one Holy Cross brother will take their final vows, making their perpetual commitment to religious life. We are very blessed to have such great young men in formation, so I ask you to keep praying for vocations (especially for any young men and women here at Christ the King whom God might be calling to priesthood or religious life). Perhaps you might consider signing up for the Vocation Chalice ministry to pray for vocations? (Contact Amy Tatay for details.)
I love this time of year, as our parish is full of activity. Please know of my gratitude to each of you for the many ways you build up our parish community.
