Fr. Steve’s Column 8-27-23

Hopefully you saw in last week’s bulletin that we will have another Holy Cross priest assisting us over the next year.  Fr. Bob Epping is no stranger to Christ the King; he was the Pastor here from 1985 to 1994, so many of you who have been with the parish for a while will remember him fondly.

Since moving on from Christ the King, Fr. Bob has spent much of his priesthood in parish work (as pastor of our parish in Colorado Springs, as well some time as pastor of Holy Cross Parish here in town).  He’s also spent some time in administration for the Congregation of Holy Cross.  Most recently he served a six-year term as Holy Cross’s Superior General, during which time he was based at our Generalate (headquarters) in Rome and oversaw all Holy Cross provinces throughout the world.  He was able to take a sabbatical after his term at this demanding ministry was completed, and now as he concludes his sabbatical, we are fortunate to have him at Christ the King.

Fr. Bob will just be helping out part-time, and he won’t live here at the rectory, but you’ll be seeing him around, I’m sure.  He’ll be in the Sunday Mass rotation periodically (as well as the weekday Mass rotation), and he’ll help out in various capacities in the parish and school.

Fr. Bob’s first weekend at the parish will be September 2-3, so please join me in welcoming him back to Christ the King!
