From Deacon Joe Dietz 7-14-24

There is no better way to spend our time in this world than in the physical presence of Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament, present in the tabernacles of every Catholic Church.

This opportunity to spend time with our Savior, the God of the Universe, body, blood, soul and divinity is a great gift from the creator Himself to His humble creation, and is available to each and everyone of us.

It is no wonder that those who spend time in Eucharistic Adoration each week experience great benefit from that time well spent and that parishes that are able to provide the opportunity for adoration around the clock 24X7 also bear abundant fruit of the Spirit from this practice.

Unfortunately, many parishes, like Christ the King, for a variety of reasons are not set up logistically to provide for adoration and visitation around the clock.  However, the Holy Spirit reminds us that God is not bound by time or space.  Therefore, alternately it is a suitably worthwhile goal for a parish to spend the equivalent of 24X7 adoration in the form of a cumulative 168 hours per week in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.   Toward that end, it is my great privilege to introduce to you today a brand-new first time anywhere initiative we are undertaking here at Christ the King with regard to Eucharistic Adoration, Ador168.

Ador168 is a method to encourage this adoration time and keep track and report those hours toward achievement of this goal.  Ador168 simply asks that those that are able to commit to a period of time in Adoration of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament every week, report that time commitment to the parish Ador168 recording site.

To be clear we are not asking for you to commit to a specific day and time, only an amount of time during the week.  For example, if you commit to an hour a week it wouldn’t matter if you made an hour long visit on one day or made 6 visits of 10 minutes each over 6 days, it will still count as an hour toward the total.

We have established an email box for reporting Ador168@sbctk.com and you can also report your time by calling the parish and leaving a voicemail at the Deacon Joe/Ador 168 extension.  We will publish the running total hours for the week in the bulletin and on the parish website.  You can commit to as little as a half hour a week or as much as you are able.  This can be time in any church or any chapel where the Blessed Sacrament is present.  The only requirement is that it is time outside of Mass and is specifically focused on being in the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.  I know many of you spend time in Adoration already and I would ask that you please report that weekly time to me or via the email for phone option so it can be included in the total.  If you have not taken advantage of the opportunity to visit with Jesus in this way, I strongly encourage you to give it a try.  Even if you start with just a half hour once a week you will be glad you did.

Blessings,

DJ
