Dear Christ the King Family,
This Sunday is special for us because when it falls on November 2nd, we get to celebrate the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed, more commonly known as All Souls’ Day. It is always a solemn and deeply meaningful way to begin this month of November by first celebrating the Solemnity of All Saints, then pray for all souls, especially those near and dear to our hearts, and allow this month to be a time of deeper reflection on our own lives as the Liturgical Year comes to a close. The beauty is that all of us–we here on earth, all souls in purgatory, and the Communion of Saints in heaven, are all part of the same living and eternal Body of Christ–the Church! Let us pray always for those who have died, that they find Eternal Rest in our Lord’s embrace and that the Perpetual Light of God may shine always upon them.
You’ll also notice something different in this weekend’s bulletin on the next page. As the old saying goes, the only things that are certain in life are death & taxes, so we figured why not share our past year’s financial report on this Sunday when we happen to celebrate All Souls’ Day? All kidding aside though, the timing might seem strange and usually this would be shared a little earlier, but in this time of transition as a new pastor, this took a little longer than usual but we still wanted to make sure it is shared. I am exceptionally grateful to Jennifer Snyder, our business manager, and other members of our Financial Council and office/school staff for all of their assistance in being good stewards here at Christ the King.
Here are some details Jennifer has to share that might help when looking at the financial report: As I was closing out the 2024-2025 fiscal year I was truly astonished at how generous our community is! We had an amazingly successful year at Christ the King and that is not possible without all of you. It is a privilege to work in collaboration with Fr. David, Finance Council, and Lindsay Jeffress to make sure the resources entrusted to Christ the King are well spent to keep our campus operating at its best. The insert found in this week’s bulletin is a summary of our year along with descriptions of what revenue and expenses entails. You may notice our donation total under parish revenue is higher than normal. This is in part due to a small group of individuals who took it upon themselves to graciously contribute resources to upgrade the rectory/parish office. You might also notice that our school operated on a surplus this year which is a tremendous blessing–most years we have run on a deficit and certainly increased enrollment, expansion of CHOICE, and a very successful auction helped in that regard. Let us give thanks to God for such a blessed fiscal year here at Christ the King and may He continue to guide us in our stewardship of those gifts in living His mission of discipleship.
