Apart from prayer, worship, and service, as Christians we are called to build community with one another so as to build up the entire Body of Christ. At Christ the King, we strive to foster a culture of openness and welcome in which parishioners feel that they know each other. In order to do this, we offer a number of social events and ways to celebrate our parish family.
“Our calling is to serve the Lord Jesus in mission not as independent individuals but in a brotherhood. Our community life refreshes the faith that makes our work a ministry and not just an employment; it fortifies us by the example and encouragement of our confreres; and it protects us from being overwhelmed or discouraged by our work.” —Constitutions of the Congregation of Holy Cross (4.33)
Donut Sunday
The parish hosts Donut Sunday the first Sunday of each month after the 7:00 AM, 8:45 AM, and 10:30 AM Masses. This is a wonderful opportunity to join other parishioners downstairs in the church basement for conversation and community over a warm cup of coffee and a delicious donut! Parishioners are needed to help coordinate, set up, and serve each month. This is a great ministry for families to volunteer together! Contact Amy if you would like to volunteer for this ministry.
CTK Dinner & Auction
Every other year in February, Christ the King hosts a dinner and auction, which is the largest single fundraiser for our parish and school community. Parishioners are needed to chair the auction and assist the chairs with a wide variety of tasks. Commitment is flexible depending on the tasks a volunteer wishes to take on. If you have questions, would like to volunteer for this ministry, have an item or skill to donate, or are interested in becoming a sponsor, please contact the parish office or email auction@sbctk.com.
Lenten Fish Fry
Each year on a Friday during Lent, Christ the King hosts a Fish Fry for parishioners and friends. All proceeds from the purchase of meals go to benefit our sister parish of Corpus Christi in Bangladesh. Parishioners are needed to help set up the dining room, prepare and serve food, and assist with cleaning. This is a great opportunity for students in middle school and high school to serve alongside their parents! Contact Abigail if you would like to volunteer for this ministry.
King's Fest
King's Fest is an annual parish festival held at the beginning of the school year in August. Parishioners are needed to help plan and organize this celebration. Contact Fr. Steve if you would like to volunteer for this ministry.
Parish Picnic
The annual parish picnic occurs on the Sunday afternoon of King's Fest weekend each August. Parishioners are needed to plan the event, set up and tear down, lead games, and assist with other picnic activities. Contact Fr. Steve if you would like to volunteer for this ministry.
Trivia Night
In order to host our parish Trivia Night, parishioners are needed to plan the event, set up and tear down, lead games, and assist with a variety of other tasks. Contact Fr. Steve if you would like to volunteer for this ministry.
