Congratulations on your engagement!
You are soon to be united as husband and wife in the Sacrament of Marriage. Your public commitment, expressed in the wedding vows and lived with generosity and fidelity, makes God's love visible and present for us all. The Sacrament of Marriage embodies the love between God and humanity. It is a commitment before God and the Church, an act of faith that God has drawn you together to form a lifelong covenant. It is a source of grace, a gift to strengthen you in your vocation to one another and to your children. It is a sign of love to be shared and a recognition that this relationship is bigger than the couple itself.
Marriage preparation and wedding liturgies at Christ the King respect the sacred and joyful quality of this sacrament. Preparation begins with meetings with a priest, deacon, or other member of the parish staff, and then continues with meetings with a sponsor couple and other diocesan formation opportunities. These encounters focus on a number of key areas, including faith, communication and conflict, sexuality, and family planning.
To begin marriage preparation and schedule the wedding liturgy, please contact our parish office at least six months in advance of the wedding date.
Once again, congratulations on your engagement, and may God bless you as you prepare for this sacrament!
“We pronounce our vows in a moment, but living them for the sake of the kingdom is the work of a lifetime. That fulfillment demands of us more than the mere wish, more even than the firm decision. It demands the conversion of our habits, our character, our attitudes, our desires.” —Constitutions of the Congregation of Holy Cross (6.57)
