Prayers & Devotions

St. Paul exhorts us to “pray without ceasing.” Christ the King offers a number of opportunities for prayer throughout the Church year.

Stations of the Cross

Stations of the Cross are prayed every Friday during Lent in the church at both 12:00 noon and 6:00 PM. See the Good Friday Stations of the Cross here.

Taizé Services

Our parish Taizé prayer services during both Advent and Lent are beautiful ways to enter into these sacred seasons of the Church year. These services combine silence and contemplation with the music of Taizé, an international ecumenical community in France. Taizé songs feature repetitive refrains based in Scripture meant to draw us into communion with God in prayer. Advent Taizé Prayer  |  Lenten Taizé Prayer

May Crowning

The parish hosts an outdoor Marian procession and crowning of Mary each May near the feast day of Our Lady of Fatima (May 14). All are welcome to join our shared prayer and song together in honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Pet Blessing

For the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi (October 4th), the parish hosts a blessing of the animals in the church parking lot. Pets of all kinds are welcome! (But kindly make sure that all are on a leash or in a crate.)

All Souls Day Mass

Each year on All Souls Day, the parish remembers loved ones from our community who have passed away during the previous year. Family members and friends of the deceased are invited to spend an evening in prayer as we commend all the souls of the faithful departed to the mercy of God.

Christ the King Choral Vespers

The parish hosts a choral vespers service for our feast day on the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, each year on the last Sunday in Ordinary Time. Various vocalists and instrumentalists assist with musical selections.

Prayer Line

Regular prayer warriors join a long standing, extensive prayer chain network within our parish through phone calls or email. If you would like to volunteer or add a name to our prayer list, please contact the rectory office.

Vocations Chalice

Parishioners volunteer to take a special chalice home for one week to pray for an increase of all vocations within the Church.  We ask that all parishioners pray that all may hear the gentle whisper of God and the urging of the Spirit as we discern how God has created us to serve and love whether that be in religious life, the priesthood, marriage, or the single vocation.  Please contact the parish office if you would like to volunteer for this ministry.

Our thoughts are not easily God’s thoughts, nor our wills His will. But as we listen to Him and converse with Him, our minds will be given to understand Him and His designs. The more we come through prayer to relish what is right, the better we shall work in our mission for the realization of the kingdom.
