Fr. Steve’s column 4-2-23

Holy Week is upon us!  After 6 weeks of observing the season of Lent with works of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, we embark on this holiest of weeks, when we walk with Jesus through His Passion and death towards the glory of the resurrection.  I know this is a busy time of year for a lot of people, but I hope all of us can find some ways to give this week its due and spend some extra time with the Lord.  Here are some things we’ll be doing to observe Holy Week as a parish:

Monday, April 3rd:         Chrism Mass at St. Matthew Cathedral, 7pm

Tuesday, April 4th:          Confessions, 7-8pm

Wednesday, April 5th:         Confessions, 6-8pm

Holy Thursday, April 6th:      Morning Prayer, 8:30am

                Confessions, 9-10am

Mass of the Lord’s Supper, 7pm

Night Prayer, 10pm (Holy Cross Chapel)

Good Friday, April 7th:         Morning Prayer, 8:30am

Celebration of the Lord’s Passion, 3pm

(Divine Mercy Novena to follow)

                Stations of the Cross¸ 7pm

Holy Saturday, April 8th:       Morning Prayer, 8:30am

                            (Divine Mercy Novena to follow)

Easter Food Blessing, 1pm

Easter Vigil Mass¸ 9pm

Easter Sunday, April 9th:       Normal Sunday Mass schedule

I look forward to sharing these incredible liturgies with you and your families and guests.  Many blessings to you as we approach the great celebration of Our Lord’s Resurrection.

Don’t forget that Spring Break is also Holy Week–you can attend the Triduum liturgies even if you’re traveling!  Go to masstimes.org and type in the ZIP code where you’re staying, and

it will pull up the churches closest to you.
