I’m very happy that our new Director of Music Ministry has started at CTK this week! Lindsey Barrett was hired as the result of a thorough interview process, and I’m very excited to have her on board. I’ve asked her to write a brief message to the parish to introduce herself, so please join me in welcoming her to Christ the King!
My name is Lindsey (Miyazaki) Barrett and I am so excited to start as your new Director of Music Ministry! Born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, I am the oldest of six children in a very musical family. I first got involved in music ministry in third grade, and for the past twenty years, it has played a crucial role in my life and faith.
I came to South Bend as an undergraduate at Notre Dame studying Piano Performance and returned to the area when I married my husband, Kevin, almost five years ago. Since then, we have enjoyed many trips to Iowa, countless long walks with our dog, and a lot of college football.
Last spring I finished the Master of Divinity program at Notre Dame. During my time in the MDiv, I studied alongside brothers and seminarians in the Congregation of Holy Cross. Kevin grew up in a Holy Cross parish and school, and for years we have talked about how much we would love the opportunity to work and pray at a Holy Cross parish. When this position arose at Christ the King, we truly felt God calling us here.
I am so grateful to serve Christ with you all and I cannot wait to worship with you in and through music. Kevin and I look forward to becoming a part of the Christ the King community!
